Spring & fall Spring & fall cleanups.

The two visits that bookend the growing season. Spring clears winter’s mess and gets the lawn growing; fall gets every leaf off before snow so the grass doesn’t smother underneath.

A cleanup includes.

Everything raked, blown, bagged and gone. You come home to a property that looks like the season just started.

  1. 01

    Leaf removal

Leaves cleared from the lawn, beds, hard surfaces and along fence lines.

  2. 02

    Haul-away

Debris bagged and taken away, or left curbside where your municipality collects.

  3. 03

    Branches and storm debris

Fallen limbs and sticks picked up and removed.

  4. 04

    Bed cleanout

Leaves pulled from beds and perennials cut back at the right time of year.

  5. 05

    Matted turf (spring)

Light raking of matted or snow-mold patches so new growth can come through.

  6. 06

    Final cut (fall)

The last mow of the year, a little shorter, to keep grass from matting under snow.

Why it matters

Leaves left behind cost you.

A layer of wet leaves over winter blocks light, traps moisture and invites snow mold. In spring, those spots green up late, if at all.

A thorough fall cleanup is one of the cheapest ways to protect the lawn you paid to grow all season.

Leaves over winter
Snow mold and dead patches in spring
Matted turf
Slow green-up and thin growth
Debris in beds
Pests, rot and smothered perennials
Long final cut
Grass mats down and molds under snow

Spring or fall?

Most properties benefit from both. Each visit has its own job.

Spring cleanup Late March – April

Done once the ground is firm enough to walk on without leaving footprints. Clears winter’s debris and gets the lawn ready for its first mow.

  • Winter debris and leftover leaves
  • Perennial cut-back and bed cleanout
  • Raking of matted and snow-mold areas

Fall cleanup October – November

Timed for after most leaves have dropped. Properties with heavy tree cover often need two or three visits to stay ahead of them.

  • Every leaf off lawn and beds
  • Final, slightly shorter cut
  • Beds tidied for winter

Cleanup questions.

Can you come more than once in the fall?

Yes. With mature trees, one visit rarely catches everything. We can schedule two or three visits as the leaves come down.

Can you mulch leaves into the lawn instead?

For a light layer, yes. Mulching a thin cover of leaves returns nutrients to the soil. Heavy cover still needs to be removed.

When should I book a spring cleanup?

Book in March. We start as soon as the ground is firm; working on soggy soil compacts it and damages the roots.

Do you clean gutters?

Gutters aren’t part of a standard cleanup, but ask when you request a quote and we’ll let you know what we can add.
